Iris Rabaya Au was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to filing a false tax return that omitted more than $2.6 million transferred from company accounts to her personal bank accounts between 2020 and 2023. U.S. District Judge Percy Anderson ordered her to pay $1,484,343 in restitution and forfeit luxury and high-performance cars, designer handbags and three "Godfather" sculptures, among other assets. Prosecutors said Au created shell corporations and bank accounts at the direction of her former boyfriend, Adam Iza, using them to support his spending and conceal fraud proceeds. The accounts funded roughly $1 million in payments to Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies, luxury purchases, nearly $10 million in recreational spending and approximately $16 million in cryptocurrency purchases for Iza. Deputies allegedly provided private security while also obtaining confidential law enforcement information and court-authorized search warrants for people involved in Iza's disputes. Au's sentencing followed Iza's September 2024 arrest and the separate conviction of former deputy David Anthony Rodriguez. Iza also pleaded guilty in a California federal case involving fraudulent access to Meta advertising accounts and tax evasion, with sentencing scheduled for Oct. 5, while he received a separate 15-year sentence on Sept. 9 for a Connecticut bitcoin kidnapping and robbery plot.
