Hong Kong is preparing to raise HK$15 billion to HK$20 billion, or as much as $2.6 billion, through a digital green bond denominated in U.S. dollars, Hong Kong dollars, euros and offshore yuan. Pricing could come as early as Monday after the government mandated banks to hold fixed-income investor meetings this week. If completed at the upper end of the range, the transaction would become the world’s largest digital bond sale, surpassing Hong Kong Mortgage Corp.’s HK$12 billion-equivalent issue in June. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority, which represents the government in the potential offering, declined to comment. The deal would combine green finance with blockchain-based issuance, trading and settlement infrastructure, supporting Hong Kong’s efforts to make digital bond issuance more routine and strengthen its position as a regional fixed-income center.
