Huawei unveils six power showcases at 2026 Global Electric Power Summit

  • Huawei presented six digital power projects with electricity companies from several countries.
  • More than 600 representatives attended the 2026 Global Electric Power Summit in Shanghai.
  • Huawei plans continued cooperation with power companies, standards organizations and industry partners.

Huawei held the 2026 Global Electric Power Summit during HUAWEI CONNECT 2026 in Shanghai on Sept. 24, 2026, bringing together more than 600 representatives from power companies, industry organizations, partners and media. Under the theme "AI × Energy: Unlocking a New Power System," the summit examined how energy transition can be combined with digital technologies and AI. Huawei and power companies from several countries presented six reference projects covering the electricity value chain from generation to consumption in domestic and international markets. The company framed the shift as closer cooperation between computing infrastructure and power infrastructure, rather than one-way digital support for the energy sector. Philippe Adam, Secretary-General of the International Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE), said the industry is being reshaped by the energy transition, AI data centers and digitalization. Distributed renewable energy is gaining importance in reducing dependence on external energy sources, strengthening grid resilience and improving electricity access, while about 700 million people worldwide still lack access to electricity. Huawei identified low-voltage networks as a major system constraint and said their management requires six capabilities: observation, measurement, control, regulation, transaction handling and traceability. David Sun, Director General of Huawei's Electric Power Digitalization Business Unit (BU), said low-voltage transparency depends on faster access to data, higher data quality and greater cost efficiency. He identified digital capabilities, digital infrastructure and a digital regulated asset base (RAB) as priorities. Huawei said it will continue working with power companies, standards organizations and industry partners through a framework covering metrics, architectures and technologies.
