Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission said a yuan trading counter will be added to Stock Connect before July 1 next year, allowing mainland investors to buy and sell Hong Kong-listed shares directly in renminbi. The arrangement is intended to streamline cross-border investment flows and reduce currency-conversion costs. Separately, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority said CMU OmniClear, a joint venture with Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, is developing a digital-asset platform targeting settlement using central bank digital currency by year-end. The platform will also explore interoperability with tokenized deposits and compliant stablecoins.
