Bitcoin and Ethereum have outperformed major commodities and stock indexes over the past three months, rising 40% and 66%, respectively, while the total cryptocurrency market capitalization gained more than 30%, according to market research platform Bull Theory. Its comparison showed altcoins up 44%, versus gains of 9% for silver, 6% for gold, 13% for copper, 8% for the Russell 2000, 3.26% for the S&P 500 and 2.2% for the Nasdaq; the KOSPI fell 14%. A separate table cited three-month gains of 40% for Bitcoin, 6.71% for gold, 10.89% for silver and 4.72% for the S&P 500, alongside year-to-date returns of -4.40%, -1.39%, -12.29% and 12.57%, respectively. Bitcoin reached an intraday high of $87,363 on Monday, its highest level since late January, as the SEC (U.S. securities regulator) pursued a cryptocurrency framework that includes tokenized U.S. stocks. That support outweighed the CLARITY Act’s failure, although a jump in 10-year Treasury yields later halted Bitcoin’s advance and contributed to a 2.8% decline. Bull Theory said crypto was rising despite the U.S.-Iran war, the CLARITY Act stalling and interest rate hikes.
