China and the United States held their first discussions on artificial intelligence hours before talks between President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump were set to begin. Senior negotiators met in New York ahead of the Trump-Xi summit, where the two sides also discussed plans to reduce tariffs and extend trade arrangements.
