Amazon is allowing U.S. sellers to connect their accounts to Anthropic’s Claude through a new Selling Partner plugin, giving the AI assistant access to catalogs, real-time performance metrics and recommendations. Claude can help sellers check inventory, adjust prices and prepare shipments, while merchants retain approval over actions. The move contrasts with Amazon’s decision to block Meta Muse after saying Meta had not obtained permission for the agent to access Amazon.com, that Muse did not identify itself while browsing and that it raised concerns about customer credentials. Meta says Muse cannot see users’ passwords or payment information. Muse launched on September 8, 2026, and uses Stripe Link, Shopify Shop Pay and PayPal to discover, compare and purchase products across the open web. Meta has also added Walmart, Sephora and Best Buy as shopping partners. Amazon’s relationship with Anthropic includes a $13 billion investment and the possibility of another $20 billion tied to commercial milestones, while Anthropic has committed to spending more than $100 billion on AWS technologies over the next decade. Prediction-market traders give Anthropic a 74% chance of having the top-ranked AI model at the end of 2026, compared with 13% for OpenAI, 10% for Google and 2% for Meta, with more than $1.4 million traded. Meta shares have risen more than 20% since Muse’s launch, adding roughly $200 billion in market value. Azoma said Muse’s product visibility depends on information across brand websites, retailer listings and third-party sources, and announced coverage and optimization workflows for the agent.
