Cardano Foundation releases Mesmo to bring Cardano development beyond Java

  • Cardano Foundation released Mesmo for Python, Go, Rust and JavaScript developers.
  • 95% of developer needs are covered by existing Cardano SDKs, the foundation says.
  • Dingo validated Mainnet-accepted blocks across Cardano's growing node implementations.

The Cardano Foundation has released Mesmo, a native shared library that exposes Cardano Client Lib functionality to Python, Go, Rust and JavaScript without requiring a Java Virtual Machine. Built by compiling the mature Java SDK with GraalVM Native Image, Mesmo produces an ordinary shared library with a plain C application binary interface, allowing developers to access additional features without switching libraries. The foundation says existing Cardano SDKs cover about 95% of developer needs, while Mesmo addresses the remaining functionality. Its current capabilities include account management, seed-phrase key derivation, address validation, Blake2b hashing, Ed25519 signing and JSON-driven offline construction of payment, staking and governance transactions. Network interactions and transaction submission remain the responsibility of each host language's HTTP client, and the Python release, version 0.1.0rc8, remains pre-release software. The update comes as Cardano expands implementation diversity: Blink Labs' Dingo node has validated blocks accepted by Cardano Mainnet, while Amaru is progressing toward block production and a first Mainnet deployment in Q4. A full Haskell Cardano node has also been demonstrated in a web browser. Cardano marked its ninth anniversary after creating its genesis block on September 23, 2017, with Mainnet launching six days later. ADA was trading at $0.25, up 4.80% over 24 hours and 23% over the week, at the time of writing.
