aTyr Pharma shares fell 6.08% to $0.35 after the company secured a formal FDA agreement on the protocol for a Phase 3 trial of efzofitimod in moderate to severe pulmonary sarcoidosis. Trial-related activities in the United States and Europe are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026. The 54-week study will enroll up to 372 patients in two parallel cohorts receiving either placebo or 5.0 mg/kg of efzofitimod intravenously every three weeks for 17 doses, while continuing stable background treatments. The primary endpoint is the change in forced vital capacity from baseline at week 48, with the King’s Sarcoidosis Questionnaire-Lung score as a key secondary endpoint. The design is supported by subgroup data from the earlier EFZO-FIT Phase 3 study, in which patients with restrictive lung disease receiving 5.0 mg/kg showed clinically meaningful improvements in forced vital capacity and patient-reported outcomes compared with placebo. aTyr said it needs additional capital to advance the program. The company reduced its workforce by around 60% and narrowed its pipeline in August to focus resources on efzofitimod and targeted pipeline development. Cash, cash equivalents, restricted cash and available-for-sale investments totaled $58.9 million as of June 30, which aTyr said was sufficient to fund current operations into late 2028.
