Lakewood-Amedex Biotherapeutics has dosed the first patient in a Phase 2a trial of Nu-3, a topical antimicrobial gel for mildly infected diabetic foot ulcers. The multicenter, single-blinded study will assess 2%, 5% and 10% concentrations in adults with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, measuring safety, efficacy, microbial burden and infection resolution. Topline data are expected in the first quarter of 2027. Nu-3 is the company's lead clinical asset and is being developed within its proprietary Bisphosphocin antimicrobial platform, which is intended to address infectious diseases and limitations associated with antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The program is expected to move into a Phase 2b study comparing different dosing concentrations and once-daily or twice-daily treatment with placebo.
