Lake Victoria Gold lifts 24-hour gold extraction to 84.54% with pretreatment

  • Lake Victoria Gold identified scrubbing and desliming as the preferred pretreatment for Area C mineralization.
  • 84.54% extraction followed 24 hours of leaching, versus 49.99% for untreated material.
  • Nesch Mintech recommended advancing the pretreatment route for further process optimization.

Lake Victoria Gold Ltd. reported that attrition scrubbing followed by desliming increased 24-hour gold extraction from 49.99% to 84.54% in testing of shallow, highly weathered mineralization from Area C at its fully permitted Imwelo Gold Project in Tanzania. Bottle-roll recovery reached 88.15% after 48 hours, compared with 70.76% for untreated material. Pretreatment also improved slurry settling, bed compaction and average gravity recovery. The company said the results complement March 18, 2026 testing of transitional and fresh mineralization, which produced recoveries of approximately 96%-97% using conventional gravity concentration and cyanide leaching. The work was completed by Nesch Mintech Tanzania Limited in Mwanza, which recommended advancing the pretreatment route and optimizing grind size within the P80 75-106 micrometre range. Lake Victoria Gold said the results strengthen the technical basis for Imwelo's process design, while cautioning that the project has no feasibility study establishing mineral reserves and economic and technical viability under current NI 43-101 standards.
