Bitcoin's roughly $15.6 billion September options expiry on Deribit has passed, removing a major quarterly derivatives position that had included about 182,000 BTC in open contracts. The book contained about 106,000 calls and 76,000 puts, with call interest concentrated near $90,000 and $100,000 and max pain near $76,000. Bitcoin held around the mid-$80,000s rather than falling toward that level, indicating the approaching expiry alone did not force a substantial decline. The rollover shifts attention to Treasury yields after the 10-year yield reached 5.20% on Sept. 24 and the 30-year rose to 5.48%, its highest level since 2004. Higher risk-free returns and tighter financial conditions can weigh on volatile, non-yielding assets, even as U.S. spot Bitcoin funds continued to draw capital while Bitcoin traded near $84,000. Bitcoin had previously risen from below $63,000 in August to nearly $87,000 before consolidating, helping spur interest in altcoins. CoinMarketCap's altcoin season index reached 56, while Bitget remained under scrutiny after a $351.6 million wallet-infrastructure exploit prompted a withdrawal suspension.
