Crimestoppers is offering a £10,000 reward for information after three masked men allegedly invaded a couple’s home in Smith’s Wood, Solihull, on Dec. 13, 2025, injuring the husband and threatening his pregnant wife with a knife. The couple, who were expecting their third child, were coerced into transferring a significant amount of cryptocurrency to accounts controlled by the attackers, who also stole high-value watches. Police believe a fourth suspect coordinated the robbery remotely by video call. The appeal, issued on Sept. 24, 2026, comes amid wider concern over so-called wrench attacks, in which criminals use physical force or threats to obtain digital assets. CertiK recorded 52 physical crypto attacks in the first half of 2026, including 20 home invasions and $124.1 million in recorded exposure. Security measures such as multisignature wallets and time-locked transactions can reduce the risk of a single victim being able to authorize an immediate transfer, although the reward for information about the Solihull case remains active.
