Arbitrum One replaced its Timeboost transaction-ordering system with Priority Gas Auctions (PGA), which lets users bid for priority on individual transactions rather than compete for broad time-based slots. The change went live on September 24, after Timeboost had operated since April 2025. PGA evaluates maxPriorityFeePerGas bids in 125-millisecond rounds within 250-millisecond blocks and includes an anti-starvation mechanism to ensure low- or zero-tip transactions are eventually processed. The network is also introducing Fast Feed, a paid WebSocket service that provides subscribers with ordered transaction data before it reaches the standard sequencer feed, without allowing them to alter the order. Fast Feed subscription revenue will be divided 97% to the Arbitrum DAO Treasury and 3% to the Arbitrum Developer Guild. The transition followed a Constitutional AIP process and an onchain vote in June 2026 that passed with overwhelming community support. The launch was shared by the @arbitrum handle, with a notably positive community response, while trading volume was unreported at the time. Adoption, user feedback and real-world performance are the next indicators for the upgrade. For DeFi (decentralized finance) applications, the shorter bidding cycles could affect execution quality, while PGA and Fast Feed give the Arbitrum DAO two revenue streams tied to transaction priority and data access.
