Bitcoin has gained 50% from its July lows and approached $90,000, its highest level since January, as interest in crypto revives. BlackRock analysts say artificial intelligence and digital assets are converging, with autonomous AI agents potentially increasing demand for machine-native payments, stablecoins, tokenized real-world assets and programmable blockchain settlement. Coinbase Chief Executive Brian Armstrong said crypto networks and stablecoins can support continuous, automated payments for AI agents buying computing resources, data, subscriptions and other online services. Coinbase for Agents is initially intended to let agents using ChatGPT and Claude trade crypto, with potential future expansion to stocks and prediction markets. Mastercard and Ripple are also developing infrastructure for machine-led payments, while BlackRock has identified AI agents as a possible major source of stablecoin demand.
