Bitget said a security incident affected about $351.6 million in assets after its systems detected unauthorized movements from some hot wallets at 6:31 p.m. UTC on Sept. 24. The exchange temporarily suspended withdrawals while deposits and trading continued normally, and said cold wallets and most platform assets were unaffected. Chief Executive Officer Gracy Chen said user funds remained safe and that Bitget’s user protection fund, which exceeds $464 million, fully covers the loss. Earlier on-chain data showed more than $170 million in Ether, Tether’s USDT, Circle’s USDC, Avalanche and BNB moved to a single address, with some assets apparently swapped into Ether. Bitget said it is tracking the destination addresses, working with law enforcement and major on-chain security firms, and plans to publish a report on the cause and follow-up measures within 24 hours.
