Circle and Tether froze wallets linked to the Bitget hack, immobilizing about 218,000 USDT and 100,000 USDC, or roughly $318,000 in stablecoins. Bitget revised its estimate of assets affected in the Sept. 24 breach to $387.5 million from $351.6 million after identifying additional Zcash and TRON transfers, saying the revision reflected the full scope of the original incident rather than a new theft. The freeze covered only a small share of the stolen funds because stablecoin issuers can blacklist their own tokens but cannot freeze native Ether. More than 63,000 ETH remained in attacker-linked addresses after the hackers rapidly converted assets into ETH. Bitget said cold wallets and customer account balances were unaffected, and it planned to confirm a withdrawal schedule by Sept. 26 at 4:00 a.m. UTC.
