Bitcoin could reach $500,000 within roughly two years, according to Cole Kennelly, founder and CEO of cryptocurrency volatility specialist Volmex Labs. Bitcoin is currently priced at around $84,269, and the forecast describes a more than sixfold increase. The call is notable because Volmex Labs specializes in measuring volatility through forward-looking market expectations. Its Bitcoin Volmex Implied Volatility Index tracks those expectations, while BVIV-US, launched earlier this year, derives Bitcoin volatility expectations from options linked to BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT). A $500,000 target by 2028 has appeared in earlier forecasts, including Standard Chartered’s projection, which was shifted to 2030 in December 2025, largely because of weaker corporate buying. The ARK Invest CEO made a similar five-year call in September 2021, while Galaxy Digital founder Mike Novogratz repeatedly forecast the level within five years in 2022. “Rich Dad Poor Dad” author Robert Kiyosaki predicted the price by 2025 in February 2023; that forecast did not materialize. The historical record underscores the uncertainty surrounding long-range Bitcoin price targets.
