Britain will brief companies in critical national infrastructure and the defence industry on what the government describes as Russian cyberattacks, sabotage and disinformation. Security Minister Dan Jarvis will lead a meeting with businesses in communications, civil nuclear power, energy and water, while Armed Forces Minister Louise Sandher-Jones will separately meet defence-industry representatives in the coming weeks. The government says the sessions will share intelligence and help companies prepare for threats to essential services and national security. Sandher-Jones said Russia was seeking to disrupt organisations underpinning national security, while Jarvis said officials would share intelligence with important organisations. The meetings follow earlier briefings for university leaders and political parties on foreign interference. Existing government support includes specialist policing, cyber expertise and security advice. The wider context includes Britain’s criticism of Russia’s use of disinformation, a UK sabotage-related prosecution and Poland’s description of a fire at a Starlink station as sabotage without blaming Russia.
