Autonomous AI agents using XRP Ledger infrastructure for around-the-clock settlements are increasingly favoring regulated stablecoins, particularly Ripple USD (RLUSD), over XRP, according to XRPL AI Hub data. Direct-clearing activity shows sustained RLUSD dominance across all-time highs and the 30-day trend, while XRP transaction volumes have stagnated over the past week. Ripple's XRPL AI Starter Kit enables agents to make autonomous payments for services such as APIs and computing power using XRP or RLUSD. BlackRock's research note, "The Machine-Native Economy," says traditional banking systems are not designed for millisecond micropayments made by software. It says the global stablecoin market has surpassed $300 billion and annual transaction volume has reached $11.6 trillion. Predictable pricing is important for automated software budgets, making RLUSD's one-to-one U.S. dollar peg more suitable for recurring machine payments, while XRP retains a role in interbank clearing.
