Meta Platforms shares reversed after rising 4.5% the previous day, reducing billionaire Mark Zuckerberg’s wealth by almost $9 billion as Goldman Sachs questioned whether major artificial intelligence hyperscalers can generate enough revenue to justify their capital spending. Meta shares had gained roughly 36% in September after the launch of Muse, its personal AI assistant, which reached the top of Apple and Google’s app stores and recorded 2.8 million downloads within two weeks, according to Sensor Tower. The company is also expanding Muse into AI glasses and the Charm device, with plans for more than 100 glasses styles by year-end. Meta came within less than 1% of a $2 trillion market capitalization on Thursday. While Zuckerberg’s fortune fell, Michael Dell’s rose by more than $10 billion, moving him past Zuckerberg and Google’s Sergey Brin to No. 4 on Forbes’ billionaire list.
