Zano, a privacy-focused Layer 1 blockchain, asked users to halt transactions involving ZANO and Confidential Assets after identifying an asset-issuance vulnerability in its public Gateway Addresses. The project said transaction privacy was unaffected and that no wallets or spend keys were compromised, but the flaw affected asset issuance, including its fUSD stablecoin. Zano is preparing a coordinated network upgrade and a rollback of roughly 24 hours of accepted transactions, which would remove both affected and legitimate activity from the revised chain history. ZANO fell about 20% after the disclosure, while CoinGecko data showed it closed Sept. 24 at $7.50 after trading above $8 days earlier. Zano has not disclosed the quantity of improperly created assets, the code origin of the flaw, rollback parameters or its remediation process, though it has promised to address discrepancies associated with affected addresses and previously committed to compensation for rollback-related losses.
