Geely Automobile unveiled the Xiandun Golden Battery, an ultra-fast-charging battery designed to move from 10% to 70% in four minutes and 30 seconds and from 10% to 97% in eight minutes and 40 seconds. The system combines 2.2-megawatt charging infrastructure with Xingrui PowerMind, an artificial-intelligence model developed with Chinese AI firm StepFun, which predicts battery temperatures up to 30 seconds ahead and adjusts charging output in real time. Geely says the technology is designed to keep average battery temperature below 55 degrees Celsius and peak temperature at 65 degrees Celsius, while liquid cooling manages heat across the charging system and battery. The launch intensifies competition with BYD and CATL as weak domestic demand, falling automaker profitability and CATL's market dominance push Chinese carmakers toward in-house battery development and supply-chain diversification.
