Payward, the parent of Kraken, is pursuing a billions-dollar acquisition program under its One Ledger strategy to combine trading, banking, asset management and institutional services on shared infrastructure. The company acquired NinjaTrader for $1.5 billion and Bitnomial for $550 million, acquired Reap Technologies for up to $600 million, and said its acquisition of a Europe-based bank is in the final stages. Payward is also building a financial-infrastructure business that can serve outside firms and multiple brands, rather than concentrating all products within Kraken. The company has expanded into tokenized stocks and plans to add structured products, credit products and additional asset-management strategies. Payward recently partnered with Bitwise on an institutional investment product. The company confidentially filed for an IPO in November 2025, but does not plan to go public before the second quarter of 2027 at the earliest, according to a CoinDesk report. Payward reported $508 million in adjusted revenue for the second quarter of 2026, up 17% from a year earlier, and said it can fund investments from its balance sheet. Traditional-finance partnerships include investments by Deutsche Börse and Nasdaq, as well as work with Nasdaq and London Stock Exchange Group on tokenized equities. Payward's xStocks platform had processed more than $25 billion in cumulative volume by mid-2026, including $4 billion settled onchain, and attracted more than 85,000 unique holders. The expansion remains exposed to regulatory, governance and integration risks.
