KODEX200, an ETF tracking South Korea's KOSPI 200 index, returned 80.76% from January 2 to September 20, the strongest performance among major investment vehicles in Daishin Securities' asset-class comparison. Its price rose from 60,460 won to 109,285 won, while West Texas Intermediate crude gained 67.36% to rank second. The return was about 40.6 times the 1.99% earned by comparable time deposits at the five largest banks. Domestic active equity funds gained an average 58.07%, while the SPY ETF rose 11.08%. Gold, Bitcoin and bonds declined, and the won strengthened against the dollar and yen. Daishin Securities analyst Lee Kyoung-min said easing interest-rate and oil-price pressure could support further gains in domestic stocks, with semiconductors and artificial intelligence shares potentially leading any advance.
