Rokit Healthcare shares surged more than 11% in early trading on the 28th after the company confirmed that its hair-loss treatment candidate increased hair weight by up to 65% versus a control group in animal testing. The company is also planning an Indian clinical trial involving 120 patients at four hospitals, including facilities in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Unlike existing treatments that inhibit dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the candidate targets the micro-environment around hair follicles, affecting blood flow, growth factors and follicle-cell activity to promote the transition from a resting phase to a growth phase. Rokit Healthcare plans to pursue pharmaceutical development alongside commercial product launches and gradually enter major country markets starting in the first quarter of next year.
