Nidec Corporation said on the 28th that it is considering changes to its executive lineup, including President Mitsuya Kishida, as well as a large-scale impairment charge. The disclosure confirms elements of earlier reports that the Japanese motor maker was weighing major management action and a charge of approximately ¥1 trillion, or about $6.3 billion, for the fiscal year ended March 2026. Diamond Online had reported that Nidec decided to dismiss Kishida and would announce the change on September 29. Nidec previously acknowledged reports concerning its president and the potential impairment. Its shares hit Tokyo's limit-down threshold, falling ¥500 to ¥2,340, and later fell as much as 18% to ¥2,405 after the report. The company has announced several impairments following disclosures of improper conduct, including quality-control issues, and has been removed from the Nikkei 225 index while facing potential delisting.
