Hong Kong’s private home prices edged up 0.06% in August, bringing the official private residential price index to 320.5 points and reversing July’s 0.8% month-on-month decline. July was the first monthly fall since March 2025, after prices had gained around 13%, as weaker stock markets and tighter Chinese outbound-investment curbs weighed on momentum. The market has nonetheless drawn support from improved sentiment, demand from mainland Chinese professionals and easing oversupply. Residential prices in the Asian financial hub recorded their first annual increase last year after falling nearly 30% from their 2021 peak.
