Yili Group presented a China-based model for whole-value-chain symbiosis at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) inaugural Global Conference for Actions on One Health in Agrifood Systems in Rome on Sept. 29, 2026. One Health is an approach that balances the health of people, animals and ecosystems, while RENOFARM is FAO’s 10-year global initiative launched in 2024. At the RENOFARM in Action session, Yili Group Vice President Xu Ke described initiatives spanning ecosystem restoration, precision dairy farming and shared economic gains. In Ar Horqin Banner, Inner Mongolia, Yili’s grass-livestock integration model used protein-rich, deep-rooted alfalfa to restore 55,000 mu, or about 3,667 hectares, of degraded grassland. At Yili’s Chilechuan Ecological Smart Farm, automated temperature control, IoT-enabled health monitoring and stage-specific precision nutrition support cow welfare and raw-milk quality. FAO named the farm a RENOFARM Farm 5Gs Pilot Champion in 2026, and Yili has received FAO’s Contribution Award for Social Responsibility multiple times for animal welfare and precision farming. Since Yili and FAO established Dairy Farmer Field Schools in 2014, Yili has helped 5,600,000 herders in Inner Mongolia increase their incomes, while the scale of dairy farming grew more than tenfold and daily milk output doubled. Chairman Pan Gang said prosperity is collective, and Yili said it will deepen cooperation with FAO and global industry partners to support healthier people, animals and ecosystems.
