Two datasets highlight concentrated activity and strong exchange reliance in South Korea’s digital-asset market. In the first half of 2026, the top 10% of users by trading value generated more than 96% of volume across major exchanges, while a separate survey found that 94.8% of investors kept their holdings on South Korean exchanges. The concentration data came from the office of Democratic Party lawmaker Park Hong-bae, citing the Financial Supervisory Service, and the custody finding came from a Korea Financial Consumer Foundation survey of 2,500 adults. Domestic virtual asset trading volume also fell by more than half year over year, raising concerns about market concentration and potential price-manipulation risks.
