Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson says Midnight will eventually become bigger than Zcash, citing selective disclosure, private agents, cross-chain functionality and a DeFi kernel designed for major blockchains. The privacy-focused network, developed by Input Output, is also working with zero-knowledge proofs, trusted execution environments and multi-party computation, while drawing on Cardano’s 24/7 uptime and planned Leios upgrade. NIGHT traded near $0.027, while Zcash changed hands around $1,600. Zcash had gained 2,660% over the previous year and posted a stronger one-month advance, whereas NIGHT remained about 77.5% below its December 9, 2025, record near $0.12. The comparison follows a 43% July decline in NIGHT after 290 million tokens entered the market following a Wanchain bridge-contract withdrawal; the Midnight Foundation said the network was not hacked. Earlier market snapshots valued Midnight at about $443 million and Zcash at roughly $26.2 billion, while NIGHT’s 20-day price correlation with Zcash was 0.87.
