Hoban Hotels & Resorts, part of Hoban Group, signed an investment agreement with Gangwon State and Goseong County to develop Hwajinpo as an international leisure and tourism destination. The company plans to invest 680 billion won ($459 million) in a 170,000-square-meter complex in Choda-ri, Hyeonnae-myeon, Goseong County, featuring 450 guest rooms alongside dining, leisure and shopping facilities connected to nearby attractions. The project extends Hoban's Resom resort business to the east coast, following properties in Jecheon, Taean, Yesan and Jeju. Hoban Hotels & Resorts will work to expand investment and create jobs, while Gangwon State and Goseong County will provide administrative and financial support under relevant laws. The company began work last December to relocate the Choda military unit and completed permit procedures this month for a revised tourism development plan. It aims to break ground in the first half of next year after further steps, including building design review.
