Michael Burry has replaced short positions in several AI-linked stocks with put options after concluding that the artificial-intelligence bubble may burst sooner than he had previously anticipated. The move covers Micron, Nebius, Nvidia, Palantir and the iShares Semiconductor ETF, while Burry also covered shorts in Caterpillar, CoreWeave and Oracle. He said puts now replace those positions, although he has not found CoreWeave puts at an attractive price, and he opened a new MetLife short through long-dated puts. Burry said tax-loss harvesting accounted for part of the shift, but that weekend research, including an Ares Management report on the AI boom's dependence on sustained capital expenditure and unproven revenue, drove most of the decision. Micron and Nebius puts expire in June, while Nvidia, Palantir and SOXX puts run through September 2027. The Nasdaq Composite reached a record last week and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said AI had entered a high production ramp, though Micron and Palantir remained below their record highs.
