Emerging-market fintech companies with some financial licensing are positioned to lead the expansion of on-chain payments over the next three years, panelists at EastPoint: Seoul 2026 said. Stablecoins (digital tokens designed to track fiat value) can move funds 24 hours a day, including weekends and public holidays, making them particularly useful in countries with weak interbank and correspondent banking links and in cross-border remittances. Panelists said stablecoins could simplify international transfers by connecting two local payment systems, while blockchain-based verification could reduce repeated KYC (customer identity checks). They also said adoption will depend on regulated on- and off-ramps, interoperable payment services and consumer convenience rather than on any single blockchain.
