Tether and Shiga plan to introduce self-custodial wallet products for individuals, businesses and financial institutions across Africa and the Gulf Cooperation Council. Built on Tether’s open-source Wallet Development Kit, ENTA will let users fund wallets with local currency, U.S. dollars or Bitcoin and hold or transfer USD₮, Bitcoin and Tether Gold, while Pulse will provide banks and fintechs with adaptable infrastructure for payments, treasury and settlement services. Institutions will be able to use infrastructure managed by Shiga or deploy the software within their own environments while retaining control of keys, data and funds. The initiative extends Tether’s June 2025 investment in Shiga Digital and targets cross-border financial activity in a region where the World Bank put Sub-Saharan Africa's average remittance cost at 8.46% in the third quarter of 2025. Shiga says its Nigerian Digital Asset Intermediary licence remains in the final approval stage.
