Jana Partners is pressing Fiserv to raise its Project Elevate cost-savings target from $500 million to $1.25 billion by 2029 and to use Palantir software to accelerate technology efficiencies. The activist investor also wants the payments company to publish the higher targets with its third-quarter earnings, warning that the board should aim higher rather than set goals that are too easy to meet. The demands follow Jana's July push for a formal review of Fiserv's entire portfolio, while the company has said it is reviewing its businesses and could pursue further divestments. Fiserv's market value has fallen by more than half over the past 12 months, and its shares reached their lowest close since February 2016 on September 23.
