HCLTech said 84% of global wealth management firms believe their operating models require fundamental redesign to capture AI’s potential, while only slightly more than 7% are actively building agentic AI capabilities. The findings come from Hidden In Pl(AI)n Sight, a synthetic research report based on 1,066 AI personas modeled on senior wealth management decision-makers across 17 global markets. Although 98% of industry leadership teams are pursuing an AI agenda, the research identifies ambition, execution and strategy blind spots that can prevent spending from producing measurable business outcomes. Firms continue to emphasize efficiency, underinvest in proprietary client data and insights, and track adoption without measuring effects on growth, revenue and client value. HCLTech said 84% of leaders want fundamental redesign, but only 12% measure the new revenue that redesign should generate. The study, conducted with Evidenza, combined AI scale and analytical speed with input from practitioners, researchers and subject matter experts involved in persona design, research development and validation. Executives ranked first-party and behavioral data above technology infrastructure, cloud platforms and AI partnerships as a competitive differentiator, while nearly 80% said future leaders will best coordinate AI, human expertise and ecosystem partners. Confidence was highest in APAC at 89% and North America at 84%, compared with 38.3% in Europe.
