Circle Foundation announced two grants on September 25, 2026, to support digital payment initiatives by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the World Food Program (WFP). The funding will help explore how regulated USDC stablecoins and digital financial infrastructure can lower aid-distribution costs, reduce delays and strengthen financial resilience. UNDP will establish a Digital Asset Innovation Pool to help country offices move from localized pilots to broader program delivery, building on blockchain-based payment trials in Syria, Haiti, Guatemala and The Gambia. A separate grant to World Food Program USA will support WFP governance, risk, compliance and treasury-reconciliation systems for digital-asset distribution. WFP plans to test stablecoin payment corridors across two to three countries over the next three years and fund independent research to establish operational benchmarks for speed, efficiency and cost effectiveness. The initiatives build on Circle Foundation support for the UNHCR Digital Hub of Treasury Solutions (DHoTS), where regulated USDC stablecoins are being integrated across 15 UN agencies.
