Fairshake has pledged an initial $30 million for media opposing Democrat Sherrod Brown in Ohio’s Senate race, while its affiliated Defend American Jobs PAC reported spending $11.4 million on advertisements supporting Republican Jon Husted and opposing Brown. The PAC is aligned with and largely funded by the cryptocurrency industry, with backing from Coinbase and Ripple Labs. The spending recalls the 2024 Ohio Senate race, when outside groups spent more than $300 million and crypto-aligned PACs and affiliates spent about $41 million opposing Brown and supporting Republican Bernie Moreno. Moreno won with 50.2% of the vote to Brown’s 46.4%. Husted was appointed to the Senate by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine after JD Vance left the seat following his election as US vice president in 2024. In Ohio’s 2026 governor’s race, Republican Vivek Ramaswamy, a Strive co-founder, also has financial backing from World Liberty Financial co-founders and other donors.
