Crypto traders lost about $392 million in long positions over 24 hours as Brent crude approached $108 a barrel and the 10-year Treasury yield reached about 5.26%, according to CoinGlass. Longs represented 81% of $487 million in total liquidations, with about three-quarters of the losses coming from Ether, altcoins and gold contracts rather than Bitcoin. Bitcoin traded near $83,280, down 1.4% over 24 hours, but remained about 2% above the $81,722 average cost basis estimated for U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF holders. The funds recorded net inflows for seven straight days through Sept. 25. Analysts linked the decline to profit-taking and the unwinding of leveraged positions after last week’s rally, while traders increased the probability of another Federal Reserve rate hike to 68.1%. The next market tests cited were Wednesday’s PCE inflation report and Friday’s jobs data.
