Zcash (ZEC) extended its selloff on Sept. 29, falling more than 18% from a recent high and more than 10% over 24 hours as profit-taking and the unwinding of leveraged futures longs pressured the token. CoinGlass recorded $28.7393 million in ZEC liquidations over 12 hours, the largest total among cryptocurrencies, while Lookonchain reported that a whale's 5x long position on 4,135 ZEC through Aster DEX had an unrealized loss exceeding $450,000. A Sept. 28 study of OKX's ZEC perpetual market recorded dollar-denominated open interest of $164.95 million, down from $190.69 million 24 hours earlier, as ZEC traded near $1,464 following an 8.5% daily decline. The faster contraction in open interest than price points to positions being closed during the reversal, though it does not establish who sold first or predict the token's next move. A broader Sept. 29 market account also described ZEC falling sharply as oil prices and bond yields rose.
