Better Home & Finance faces a securities class action investigation by Hagens Berman after the company reported a 75% sequential increase in its first-quarter 2026 net loss and sharply reduced its loan-volume outlook. On March 13, then CEO Vishal Garg said Better Home remained on track to reach $1 billion in monthly volume by May 2026, while CFO Loveen Advani said the company could grow independently of broader economic and mortgage-market conditions. On May 7, Better Home said second-quarter loan volume would be $1.65 billion at the midpoint, equivalent to about $550 million per month, rather than the previously indicated $1 billion monthly pace. The company also said conversion rates had declined because of macroeconomic factors. Better Home shares fell 28.5%, or $12.17, to $30.52 that day, according to the earlier investor notice, while the company’s stock was down nearly 60% year to date. Hagens Berman is seeking investors with substantial losses and has set Nov. 20, 2026, as the lead-plaintiff deadline. The firm also said Better Home fired its CEO after the class period and is offering a whistleblower channel for people with non-public information.
