The UAE confirmed that President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during Netanyahu's Sunday visit, marking the first Emirati acknowledgment of the trip. Israel's prime minister's office said Netanyahu traveled at the UAE president's invitation and that discussions covered bilateral relations and regional challenges. Three senior Israeli officials said the meeting lasted six hours and focused on Iran. The confirmation followed an earlier UAE denial after Netanyahu's office said in May that he had secretly visited the country and met Sheikh Mohamed. A source familiar with the meeting said the two leaders met in Al-Ain, an oasis city in Abu Dhabi near Oman's border, on March 26. The UAE has strengthened ties with the United States and Israel since coming under attack during the Iran war; its relationship with Israel began under the 2020 Abraham Accords and provides Abu Dhabi with regional influence and a direct channel to Washington.
