AltX Research announced on September 28 that it will rename its proprietary Japan-origin Layer 1 blockchain, Japan Smart Chain (JSC), to MIZUHIKI: The Japan Chain. The company is shifting beyond blockchain infrastructure toward an integrated business combining Japan-compliant stablecoin issuance and payment infrastructure with payment service provider (PSP) functions. Its live mainnet is intended to support payments made in USDC, USDT and JPYC while allowing merchants to receive settlement in Japanese yen. AltX Research is also advancing a benefits-payment platform proof of concept with multiple municipalities using My Number cards.
