Boston-based supply-chain startup Atomic has raised $12.5 million in Series A funding, bringing its total capital to just north of $15 million. Klass Capital led the round with Madrona Venture Group, after Atomic’s annual recurring revenue quintupled since the beginning of the year, according to Jon McNeill, a former Tesla president and founder of DVx Ventures, where Atomic was incubated. Founded by former Tesla employees Michael Rossiter and Neal Suidan, Atomic uses agentic AI (software that makes operational decisions) to simulate inventory scenarios and recommend or automatically select actions. The company developed an early version of the system during Tesla’s 2018 Model 3 production ramp, when spreadsheets could not keep pace with changing plans. Atomic now serves customers including DoorDash and HelloFresh, with DoorDash running 90% of its purchasing across hundreds of sites through the platform, McNeill said. The company has expanded from recommendations to autonomous decisions, while working with consumer packaged goods, mobility and manufacturing clients. Atomic has also appointed longtime Tesla planning director Jeff Goodrich as chief technology officer and third co-founder. Its investor appeal has included the ability to deploy quickly, infer undocumented customer decision rules and adapt its supply-chain model across industries.
