European semiconductor shares climbed Tuesday after Anthropic’s IPO prospectus forecast $518 billion in cloud, computing and infrastructure obligations over the coming year, reinforcing expectations that artificial intelligence investment will sustain demand for chips, networking equipment and manufacturing tools. X-Fab Silicon Foundries rose 6.5% in Paris, while gains across Europe included 5.9% for ams OSRAM, 6.3% for Technoprobe, 3.1% for Infineon Technologies, 4% for Aixtron, 4.6% for Siltronic, 3.2% for ASML Holding, 3.8% for ASM International and 3% for BE Semiconductor Industries. Anthropic is preparing for a potential public listing after the November U.S. midterm elections, with an expected valuation above $2 trillion, compared with an estimated $965 billion valuation in May. Its revenue rose 12-fold in 2025 to nearly $4.6 billion, but the company reported a $42 billion net loss, including an accounting charge of about $34 billion tied to financing instruments convertible into shares. Anthropic spent $7.33 billion on computing and infrastructure in 2025, about three times its prior-year spending, while its operating loss exceeded $8 billion excluding certain liability writedowns. The prospectus also warned that nearly a quarter of revenue came from two customers and disclosed risks involving advanced AI models, including possible self-preserving behavior, resistance to shutdown and information manipulation.
