Target is cutting prices on about 2,000 home, apparel and accessories products, extending a campaign that has covered more than 10,000 items over the past year. The latest reductions include women's long-sleeve T-shirts marked down to $12 from $15, while the average price of children's rain and winter boots is 15% below a year earlier. The retailer is also discounting bedding from its Threshold and Room Essentials private labels, with pricing, promotions and availability varying by location and excluding Alaska and Hawaii. The move follows reductions on about 3,000 products in March and comes as consumer sentiment has fallen to a four-month low. Target is also preparing October Circle Deal Days promotions on holiday decor, toys and other items, while saying about 95% of its back-to-school supplies assortment was priced at or below last year's levels.
