Morgan Stanley has launched a Digital Asset Lab to test stablecoins, tokenized assets and decentralized finance applications in a secure, compliant and segregated environment separate from its core systems. The Wall Street bank, which oversees more than $10 trillion in client assets, will examine tokenized deposits, central-bank digital currencies, tokenized money-market funds and DeFi vaults. Megan Brewer, who leads market innovation and labs at Morgan Stanley, said the lab forms part of the firm's wider innovation-lab network, which runs as many as 270 projects annually across campuses including New York, Glasgow and Bangalore. The initiative adds research capacity to Morgan Stanley's existing digital-asset offerings, including direct cryptocurrency trading for eligible E*TRADE clients, listed Bitcoin, Ether and Solana products, and a money-market fund aimed at stablecoin reserve needs. The Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust, launched in April, manages more than $871 million in assets, according to its website.
