Chainlink has launched CCIP 2.0, the latest version of its Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (infrastructure for moving data and assets across blockchains), targeting institutions that transfer regulated assets between networks. The upgrade went live on September 28 and adds optional Cross-Chain Verifiers, allowing issuers, institutions or third parties to add verification checks alongside Chainlink's existing decentralized oracle network. Users can retain the default security model while layering additional controls. CCIP 2.0 also supports faster-than-finality transfers, enabling users to select confirmation thresholds instead of always waiting for full blockchain finality when speed is more important and the risks are understood. Chainlink has integrated its Automated Compliance Engine so policy checks can operate within cross-chain workflows. Modular fee components and expanded execution options let users rely on Chainlink's executor, use their own executor or permit permissionless execution. Chainlink says the system is live for institutions and digital-asset issuers as banks, asset managers and tokenization platforms seek to make assets such as tokenized funds and equities usable across multiple networks without introducing new security or compliance risks.
