Ken Paxton’s Texas Senate campaign is attracting an unprecedented Republican advertising effort, with GOP-aligned groups reserving about $167 million for the final two months of the race. Earlier estimates put the figure at $166 million, compared with $32 million for Democratic counterparts. The spending follows Republican concerns about Paxton’s nomination and comes as James Talarico remains narrowly ahead or competitive in public polling. Senate Majority PAC, aligned with Senator Chuck Schumer, has now begun a statewide digital and streaming advertising effort targeting Paxton, but declined to disclose a budget and is not initially buying television ads. Talarico’s campaign has raised more money than Paxton’s, while Republican groups retain an overall financial advantage and have spent heavily to support their nominee. Texas advertising has already surpassed the previous $55 million record set during the 2018 Cruz-O’Rourke Senate race.
